A revolutionary new design of a 15,000 dwt product tanker, LNG-powered with 32% less bunker consumption and with redundant safety, has been presented the “Clean Innovation Award”. // %32 daha az yakıt kullanılmasını sağlayan LNG kullanan ve ilave güvenlik özellikleriyle donatılmış 15,000 dwt’lik ürün tankerinin devrim yaratan yeni dizaynı “Temiz Yenilik Ödülü”nü aldı.

We had an interview with Mr. Geza Dologh, Izmir Branch Chairman of the IMEAK Chamber of Shipping, who has been involved in the shipping industry for many years and pioneered establishment of Arkas Shipping with his schoolmate Lucien Arkas, about Izmir, a city that has great potentials in shipping but has somewhat been left behind the curtains. // Yıllarını denizciliğe vermiş, okul arkadaşı Lucien Arkas’ın yanında Arkas Denizcilik’in kurulmasına öncülük etmiş, İMEAK Deniz Ticaret Odası İzmir Şube Başkanı Geza Dologh ile denizcilikte potansiyeli oldukça fazla olan ancak nispeten perde arkasında kalan İzmir üzerine görüştük.

The 34th Annual Interferry Conference was held in Istanbul from 14-17 October 2009. While whole world is suffering from the effects of global financial crisis, the common idea was to support each other more at these challenging times. The conference theme this year was “At The Crossroads - Choosing the Best Route Through Challenging Times”, where participants from 25 different countries and 215 guests from different industry segments met. // 34. Yıllık Interferry Konferansı 14-17 Ekim 2009 tarihleri arasında İstanbul’da düzenlendi. Dünya küresel mali krizin etkileriyle boğuşurken, konferanstaki ortak görüş bu zorlu zamanlarda karşılıklı desteğe yoğunlaştı. Bu yılki ana teması “Yol Ayrımı: Zor Zamanlarda Doğru Rotayı Seçmek” olan konferansa 25 ülkeden toplam 215 davetli katıldı.

Dokuz Eylul University School of Maritime Business and Management organized many events as we approach end of 2009. Endeavoring to shed light on a variety of aspects of education, socio-cultural and sectoral fields through conferences, seminars and symposiums organized one after the other, the school looks it really deserves the “Faculty” title achieved by the end of October. It seems the Maritime Faculty will carry our many new projects in the new year as well with the drive of this motivation. // Dokuz Eylül Üniversitesi Deniz İşletmeciliği ve Yönetimi Yüksekokulu 2009'u geride bırakırken pekçok faaliyetle adını duyurdu. Gerek eğitim alanında, gerek sosyo-kültürel, gerekse sektörel alanlarda farklı noktalara ışık tutmaya çalışan okul, ardı ardına düzenlenen konferanslar, seminer ve sempozyumlarla Ekim sonunda kazandığı “Fakülte” ünvanını fazlasıyla hak etmiş görünüyor.
