Enerji sektörü, demir-çelik ve çimento endüstrilerinin vazgeçilmez ihtiyacı olan kömür; dünya dış ticaret taşımacılık hacminde ham petrol, petrol türevleri, demir cevheri ve hububat parsiyelleri ile birlikte ana dökme yük grubuna giren yegane ham maddelerden biri. 2003 yılı navlun fiyatlarına baktığımızda, uzakdoğu endüstriyel üretim hacmindeki ani yükselişle birlikte, gerek enerji ve gerekse demir-çelik proses malzemesi olarak kömürün, demir cevheri ile birlikte deniz taşımacılık hacminde marjinal bir yükselişi tetiklediğini ve geldiğimiz mevcut durumda yüksek seviyelerin mimarı olduğunu görüyoruz. Bu çerçevede, halen alternatifi üretilememiş bir ana kaynak maddesi olan kömürün, önümüzdeki yüz yıllık süreçte de iktisadi ve jeopolitik önemini koruyacağına kesin gözüyle bakılıyor. // Coal, as a vital need of the energy sector and the iron-steel and cement industries, is one of the raw materials that can be included in the main bulk cargo range in the world foreign trade transportation volume together with crude oil, petroleum derivatives, iron ore and cereal parcels. When we look at the freight rates in 2003, we see that, together with the sudden rise in the Far-Eastern industrial production volume, coal triggered a marginal rise in the marine transportation together with iron ore either as energy or an iron-steel processing material, and it is observed that it has been the cause of the present high levels.
