The Turkish adventurer Erden Eruc, the holder of the Guinness World Record for a solo ocean row for the longest time at sea and the first and the only person in the world who rowed across the 3 oceans, has succeeded in arriving in the Angoche city of Mozambique following 26 challenging days through the Mozambique Channel. Eruc, who had departed from Madagascar, has become the first who rowed across the Indian Ocean between the two continents all alone. // Denizde en uzun süre kalan kürekçi olarak Guinness Dünya Rekoruna sahip ve dünyada üç ayrı okyanusu kürekle geçmeyi başaran ilk ve tek kişi olan Türk denizcisi Erden Eruç, Mozambik Kanalı’nda geçen 26 zorlu günden sonra Mozambik’in Angoche şehrine varmayı başardı. The past month saw the highest volume of cargo lifted on VLCCs on average over the past two years and more impressively since August 2005, based on reported spot fixture data. // 2011 yılı Nisan ayı birçokları için Kraliyet Düğünüyle hatırlanacak bir ay oldu. Ancak tanker sektörü için de bir o kadar önemli bir dönemdi. Geçtiğimiz ay, bildirilen spot kiralama verileri bazında olmak üzere son iki yıl boyunca ve hatta daha da önemlisi 2005 yılı Ağustos ayından bu yana VLCC’ler tarafından taşınan ortalama kargo hacmi en yüksek seviyesine ulaştı.

While the role of the United States as the largest crude oil consumer should not be understated, a change in supply logistics has over time led to a decline in significance of what was once a prominent tanker trade. In 2011 to-date, VLCC rates from the Arabian Gulf to the US Gulf have hardly come up for air at a time when rates to points East from varying load areas have stabilized at more palatable levels to shipowners. // Amerika Birleşik Devletlerinin dünyanın en büyük ham petrol tüketicisi olarak rolü küçümsenemez. Bununla birlikte arz lojistiğindeki bir değişim zaman içinde bir zamanlar önde gelen tanker ticaretinin öneminin azalmasına yol açtı. 2011 yılı başından bu yana Basra Körfezi’nden ABD Körfez Bölgesine VLCC ücretleri, farklı yükleme bölgelerinden Doğudaki noktalara yönelik ücretlerin armatörler için daha tatmin edici seviyelerde istikrara kavuştuğu bir dönemde pek de ara vermiş görünmüyor.
